Tools4FIM FIMalyzer

The FIMalyzer analyzes the configuration of FIM 2010 installations (including extension code) and presents the output either interactively, or in the form of a Word report. FIMalyzer Lite does the same thing, but only for the Synchronization Service.

  • Produces an automated, but fully configurable, technical report of your FIM implementation; this supports operation, support, audit and disaster recovery.
  • Allows interactive analysisof the FIM Service configuration; this allows you to validate and troubleshoot your configuration, for example by following back-links (not available in the portal) and searching on usage keywords.

For more information watch a video presentation 'An overview of the FIMalyzer' - this video is a short introduction to the FIMalyzer

There is also a more detailed tutorial video presentationUsing the FIMalyzer’ - this video takes you from your FIM 2010 configuration right through to a finished report demonstrating the FIMalyzer's functionality on the way.

Full or Lite version?

For both versions, the Word report can be configured with your own styles, and additional text and graphics – so that your customized report can be regenerated every time your system configuration changes. The report can of course be printed, but as it is fully cross-referenced with hyperlinks, it is perhaps most useful in an online form.

There is only one piece of software to install, whether you use the FIMalyzer in its full form, or FIMalyzer Lite, is a licensing decision. The cheaper “Lite” license only covers the Synchronization Service configuration - so not including the Service/Portal configuration (as such, it offers more or less the same functionality as Oxford Computer Group’s ILM 2007 Documentor). Should you need to upgrade later, you can buy a full license, the price of which will include a credit for the Lite license you already have.
